Safety and handling
Before you open a product
Read the label and any laboratory document for the batch. Check that the product name and size match what you ordered, and that the seal is intact. If anything looks damaged, wrong or unclear, do not use it and contact us.
Storage
- Keep the product sealed and in the conditions given on its label or laboratory document.
- Protect it from heat, direct light and moisture.
- Store it in a labelled, secure place that children and pets cannot reach, away from food and drink.
- Do not store research materials in a kitchen or in a fridge or cupboard that is also used for food.
Handling
- Wear gloves, eye protection and a lab coat or equivalent, and work in a clean, ventilated area.
- Avoid breathing in dust or vapour and avoid contact with skin and eyes.
- Wash your hands after handling. Do not eat, drink or smoke in the area where you work.
- Label every container you make or transfer into, with the name, date and your initials.
If something goes wrong
- Skin or eyes: rinse with plenty of water and get medical advice if irritation continues.
- Swallowed or inhaled by accident: contact your local poison centre or call 911 straight away, and have the product label to hand.
- Spills: ventilate the area, wear protective equipment, contain and wipe up the spill, and dispose of the waste as described below.
Risks
Research materials are not approved for use in people or animals, and their effects on the body are not established by us. Using them outside a laboratory can cause harm. That is why every Peptune product is sold for research use only. Read our research use policy.
Disposal
Dispose of unused product, empty vials and contaminated materials in line with your institution's procedures and the rules where you live. Do not put glass or sharps in household rubbish, and do not pour unused material down the drain unless your procedures allow it.
Batch information
Where a laboratory document exists for a product, it is listed on the COA studies page and on the product's page. Always check the batch you hold against its document.
