Overview
About this product
GHK is the tripeptide glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine. It binds copper(II) with high affinity, and the resulting complex, GHK-Cu, is the form most often studied. It has been examined in cell and tissue models of extracellular-matrix signalling, gene-expression profiling and copper transport, and in analytical work on peptide–metal coordination. Studies comparing GHK with GHK-Cu should document how each material was prepared, since free copper, free peptide and the complex can behave differently in the same assay. Supplied as a blue lyophilized powder in a sealed vial. What the research shows The studies cited here are in cells and animals. A 1988 study in fibroblast cultures reported increased collagen synthesis with GHK-Cu from picomolar concentrations, with the largest effect at a nanomolar concentration and no change in cell number. In a 2015 study, 72 rats after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction were randomised to saline or one of two GHK-Cu concentrations; knee laxity differed from saline at 6 weeks but not at 12 weeks, and ultimate load and histology scores did not differ. A 2022 study in mice exposed to cigarette smoke for 12 weeks reported fewer emphysematous changes and lower IL-1 beta and TNF-alpha in lung lavage with GHK-Cu. About this compound
GHK-Cu is the copper complex of the tripeptide glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine. The sequence is Gly-His-Lys. The copper ion is part of the complex, which is why the name carries Cu. The vial contains 50 mg of that complex, as a lyophilized powder. The same identity is how the material is specified in laboratory catalogues: sequence, copper complex, amount, and sealed vial. Peptune does not print a purity percentage on this page.
