About this product
Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide (Aib-His-D-2-Nal-D-Phe-Lys-NH2) that binds the growth hormone secretagogue receptor, GHS-R1a, the receptor for ghrelin. The early literature describes it as notably selective compared with older secretagogues, which makes it a common reference compound in receptor-selectivity studies. Laboratories use it to study GHS-R1a activation and downstream signalling, often alongside GHRH analogues such as CJC-1295. Supplied as a lyophilized powder in a sealed vial. What the research shows A 1999 study in healthy men, eight at each of five dose levels, measured a single episode of growth hormone release peaking at 0.67 hours, with a terminal half-life of ipamorelin of 2 hours. In a 2009 rat model of postoperative ileus, repeated ipamorelin significantly increased cumulative faecal pellet output, food intake and body weight gain. A 2014 phase 2, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial enrolled 117 adults having bowel resection; median time to first tolerated meal was 25.3 hours with ipamorelin and 32.6 hours with placebo (p = 0.15), and the authors found no significant differences in the key and secondary efficacy analyses.
