About this product
Selank is a synthetic seven-residue peptide (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro). It is built on tuftsin, a natural tetrapeptide, extended with a Pro-Gly-Pro sequence that makes it more stable against enzymes. It has been examined in rodent and cell models of neuropeptide signalling, gene expression and enzymatic stability. Selank is often studied alongside Semax, another stabilised heptapeptide with a similar design but a different parent molecule. Supplied as a lyophilized powder in a sealed vial. What the research shows A 2017 study in human neuroblastoma IMR-32 cells found no change in mRNA levels of 84 genes involved in GABA signalling and neurotransmission with selank alone. A 2016 rat study comparing selank with GABA reported changes in the expression of 45 of 84 neurotransmission genes in the frontal cortex 1 hour after administration and 22 after 3 hours. A 2008 clinical study, published in Russian, compared selank in 30 patients with medazepam in 32 patients with generalised anxiety disorder or neurasthenia and reported similar anxiolytic effects on rating scales for both drugs.
